Hot Wheels

I was rather proud of building this!

The Challenge

So my plan this year, please see last 20 years, is to once again get in better shape.  Its the first of a couple of goals for the year, but first thing is first.

The goal is by April 1 to weigh 190 pounds.

Wish me luck... I will keep the weight posted to the site so the world can watch me fail!  PRESSURE!

Happy Saturday

So I have been wanting to buy a new car since I bought my last car two years ago.  I bought the cheapest car I could get (a PT) and for the last 26 months I have been itching to upgrade.

Well... thanks to double car payments for the last 6 months, I have basically caught up on the debt of the car enough to get rid of her.  Don't get me wrong... the PT is actually a good car, but it doesn't fit with the plans for 2013, so she gots to go!

The new car won't be fancy.  It will be a bit more manly :)

Devil Bug

So this ho ho horrendous Christmas virus has made its way across the family and only one of us escaped its wrath, the big boy.  Everyone else has been a mess of bodily fluids and frequent clothing changes.  Last year we had a bug over the New Year Holiday so this year we are just a little ahead of the game.

We all, save for one of the twins, seem to be back to normal.  Here is a better start to 2013, than we had for 2012.

Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays to you and yours!

The Stary Family is currently battling the annual holiday virus, its like somebody wraps it up every year.  Uhh, you got us this last year!

Great Grandma has been to the hospital. 2 of the 4 kids have had the pukes. 3 of the 4 kids have had fevers and a major case of "hold me".

Next year we are officially taking off the holidays.  No Thanksgiving, No Christmas, No New Year... none of it.  After Halloween we are going to lock the doors, turn off our phones and hide.  I am not even going to go get the mail.  We are going black ops!  We will resume holidays in 2014.  Please send any virus you had already postmarked to the Stary family to the Taliban or something.  They could use some Christmas cheer.

Merry New Year!

Soapbox

The school shooting in Newtown has really affected me, more so than the other horribly tragic things that happen way too often on this rock.  It has bothered me far more than even the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.  I can't tell you how many times I have teared up over the last week.  A couple of times, I literally had to go to a bathroom stall and recover before I could get back to work.

It's easy for me to understand why this impacts me so much.  I have kids. I have kids that age. I have kids that we send off to school, fully expecting they return home.

I don't like guns, I never have.  Contrary to what most people would think, I don't think they provide safety but rather the illusion of safety.  If you draw a gun on someone you had better be willing to kill them, because you have just escalated the situation to that point.  I don't mind that people have guns.  I approve of hunting and sport shooting.  But you are never going to be able to explain to me why you need a semi-automatic (or automatic) assault rifle.  This machine serves only one purpose, that to kill as many people as quickly as possible.

I don't know what should all come of this.  I won't be upset if severe limits are placed on guns, but I suspect on very minor things will change and I guess that is OK.  But what has bothered me the most about all this, beyond of course the obvious, is the complete jackassery of so many of my fellow humans.  If I see one more "guns don't kill people" poster or one more idiotic comment about "should be ban driving due to traffic accidents" I am going to vomit.  I literally fill with rage every time I see that stupidity broadcast to the planet.

A terrible thing happened to innocent kids and I for one have been profoundly changed.  I will make sure, at a minimum, that I am a better person and a better parent because of this.

Happy Holidays from me, I hope for a safer 2013.

Mantastic

So I have completely failed myself when it comes to my weight and my muscles.  The weight is going up while my muscles are going down.  I blame this on my children.

However, no manly problem is not without a remedy.  So starting today December 17, 2012 I am renewing my quest to be slightly less fat.  While I am at it, I plan on renewing my work ethic in the gym.  2013 has a giant man-tattoo waiting for me on my right arm as soon as I get me weight to 190 again.  The tattoo is my reward for defatting myself.

25 pounds to go.

Christmas Beard

A favorite thing of mine to do each holiday season is to stop shaving.  This is my last week of work for 2012 and my razor is taking a vacation until 2013.  Behold the start of Christmas Beard!

Project Sample

Sample work for a project I completed back in my Kendle days.  I was one of the projects, that I was the most proud of.

You will need to download the files to view them properly.  MS Office doesn't always play nice with Google Web Apps.
